Opportunities for Young Volunteers

Thank you very much for your interest in volunteering at Five Rivers!

Student Naturalists and Assistant Naturalists are volunteers who are at least 12 years old who help out at the center with our public educational programs, including but not limited to the ones listed below:

  • Summer Family Program
  • Frog Watches
  • Maple Open Houses
  • Fall Festival
  • Snowshoe Walks.

Duties include but, are not limited to:

  • Readying materials for programs
  • Assisting the naturalist
  • Talking to visitors about some area of natural history
  • Helping families during programs
  • Cleaning up after programs.

Student and Assistant Naturalists:

  • Are invited to attend special trainings
  • May use the center staff for a reference
  • May use the Centers library for school projects or nature study.

You will need to fill out a volunteer application and a medical release form, and you will need to attend a training session. We reserve the right to dismiss a volunteer at any time for any reason.
