Talk and Trek: Bee Curious!

Are honeybees native? How do they make honey? What does the inside of a hive look like? Join us in exploring these and other curious questions about honeybees (Apis mellifera) during Friends’ Fall 2018 session of Talk and Trek held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.

September 27th (Thursday):
Talk: From Nectar to Honey
Trek: Honey Tour – stop at three outdoor hives and taste local honey

October 4th (Thursday):
Talk: Which came first, the flower or the bee?
Trek: Identify fall flowers

October 9th:(Tuesday)
Talk: Make-up of a honeybee colony
Trek: Look for natural hive locations

October 18th:(Thursday)
Talk: Life cycle of a honeybee
Trek: Look for insects in various stages of life

October 25th:(Thursday)
Talk: Wax production and cell creation.
Trek: Look for animal nests
