NEW: Family Fun Programs, Jan thru March

The Friends of Five Rivers is offering “Family Fun Programs” October through March at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. These programs are for adults with pre-school children.

To apply please complete this registration form.

Adults (parent, grandparent, or guardian) and children (ages 2-4) together will take part in exploring the natural world during different seasons of the year. Each 1 ½ hour adventure will begin with the sharing of a story book on a nature topic, followed by an outdoor activity that is suggested by the book. After their guided walk, they will return indoors to take part in a craft or take home project.

Each session will take place over a 5 week period, and participants may come either on Tuesday or on Wednesday; there is no need to make a commitment to either day - both days will be identical. Here are the dates for the coming sessions:

Mid-Winter Session
January 17 or 18
January 24 or 25
January 31 or Feb 1
February 7 or 8
February 14 or 15
Early Spring Session
February 28 or March 1
March 7 or 8
March 14 or 15
March 21 or 22

Sessions run from 10:00 to 11:30 am. You may sign up for as many sessions as you like.

Participants will keep an age-appropriate record of their nature adventures. They will be sent an e-mail before each meeting day. The e-mails will include a picture clue which focuses on that weeks’ adventure.

5 week Sessions: Basic fee* = $15.00, + Material fee per child $10.00

*Note: Friends of Five Rivers members need not pay the basic fee, only the materials fee. If you are not a member and wish to become one, visit our website at or request an application when you send in your registration.
